i know it's not authentic in the slightest, but i love general tso's tofu...the few times i've ordered it in new york, however, it's been really mushy...anyone know where i can get crispy general tso's, preferably on the UWS?

I've never even heard of General Tso's tofu. Where have you had it in NYC in the past?

Just at Hunan Park. It's a spicy-sweet orange/scallion/soy sauce, usually with fried chicken but sometimes with fried tofu.

I've never ordered it from there (or anywhere), but Hunan Park on Columbus near 71st has it on their menu. Their food is as Americanized/neighborhood Chinese as it gets but they generally do a good job of it, so it's worth a shot if you're in the area around mealtime. ;)

Have you eaten in or taken out? Keeping the breading on chicken semi-crisp after delivery is hard enough, I don't see it could be accomplished with deep-fried tofu. It's like expecting pot stickers not to arrive flabby after being closed up steaming hot in a little box for 20-30 minutes...

Just delivery. Maybe that is the problem...

I love General Tso Tofu. It is my favorite! I think it is called Szechuan Garden? On 9th Avenue, near 50th? in Hell's Kitchen somehwere. or maybe it is called Grand Sichuan. Their's is delicious.
