French coffee and pastries?

I was in Seattle in December and they have the best french pastry places there. I miss waking up and having a delish pastry and perfectly pulled espresso drink.

Does anyone know of some great coffee and pastry places?

Any place in Los Angeles! As long as it's yummy.

    1. Susina Bakery is good...but my favorite place, Europane, is better (but it's in Pasadena). It's worth the drive, believe me!

        1. Although I've largely given up coffee (except in dire circumstances), for various pastries I like Breadbar, Le Pain Quotidian, and Amandine.

            1. After looking up croissants Chowhound-- I found myself at Amandine this morning. What an absolutely fabulous recommendation!

The chocolate croissants are buttery but could use a bit more chocolate. My favorite was the banana and almond item. More dessert than breakfast food.

I understand the cheesecakes at Amandine are exceptional. For later this week.

                1. Susina has the best chocolate croissants I've ever had.

There is also the new French place, Little Next Door on 3rd.

                    1. Cafe Luxe on Montana serves a mean cup of coffee. I don't know about the pastries. I think they order them.
