Dinner near Omni in San Diego

I did a search here, and noticed that good restaurants are lacking in the Gaslamp District. This is for my husband's birthday dinner! We like most cuisines, particularly Fusion, Continental. No steaks or Mexican or Indian.

So far, the most promising restaurant is Chive. Any other suggestions? I read about Oceanaire, but the fact that we're from Dallas - there's an Oceanaire here also.

You may want to look into JSIX and see if that fits your bill. I honestly haven't been, but I have heard good things about it. It's very close to the Omni.

Salvatore's on the first floor of the Merridian condominiums has a nice osso buco. The restaurant is spendy, but I like it.

It is a short walk from the Omni.

We'll have a car, but I figured it'll be easier to just walk to dinner from our hotel, and we can walk around the Gaslamp district after dinner.

Is there a particular reason the restaurant needs to be near your hotel? If you have a rental car, most of San Diego is in easy reach. If not, are you willing to take the trolley?
