Best Won Ton Soup (no pork)

mr_seabass Feb 9, 2007 08:37 AM

I just love the taste of Won Ton Soup, but have stopped eating pork. Are there any restaurants where I can get a Won Ton Soup that tastes truly authentic but has shrimp (or crab) won tons instead?

I have not been there in a couple of years but there used to be a restaurant at the corner of Henry and Catherine Street in Chinatown that had great soup with shrimp won tons. I can't remember the name but my supervisor who is chinese sent me there. It is very basic looking and had a lot of chinese clientele. They also seemed to sell a lot of congee.

I don't remember the name of the place but the wontons served there have shrimp and pork. It's not great either.

Fusia on East 56th Street between Lexington and Third Avenue has a delicious shrimp wonton soup - small or large bowl - and the shrimps are a good size.

NY Noodletown (corner of Bowery and Bayard) has delicious shrimp wonton soup. they have other non-pork soups as well that use the same broth.
