I am going there with a small group of 4 people on Sunday night. Is it awful? Any recommendations?

I wouldnt say its aweful. Its average and a fun place to eat, especially with out of towners.

It's not awful, but it's just not very good, especially at the price. I got dragged there a few weeks ago for a work going away lunch, and I can safely say I'll never be back.

I think the spicy tuna rolls really aren't bad. I like the dipping sauces.

I haven't been there in years. I agree with the above posts.
It's more about fun than the food.
I think the uptown branch is better than the midtown one.

It's nothing amazing but it's actually decent for pan Asian and fun for out of towners. One dish I had once was actually quite great, a short rib special. The sushi rolls are overpriced for their size and quality though.

Do they still serve that cute dessert with sweets presented to resemble sushi?

The one on the UWS is defintely better than the Times Square one. I always liked their calamari

i agree with the others . there's nothing special about the food here . aesthetically, the one on the uws is kinda' cool inside, especially for out of towners. try to get seating upstairs i recommend ordering appetizers and moving on for dinner. if you walk along columbus, you'll find a million places.

Went because some of our friends from LI wanted to go. Okay, overpriced.

Went because it was across the street from my parents' hotel and it was raining. Expensive, yes, but fun - and some dishes are pretty good. We liked the coconut rice, the veggie dumplings and the moo-shu veggies.

OK food..I agree the lettuce wraps are good. Good for kids. They even have a children's menu.

They have the BEST cholocate fudge layer cake that I have ever had in my life. If I ever go back, it will be for booze and cake only. Actually, maybe just cake.

first off the cake, if it's your b-day, is free....that's plus number one......two, the slice is huge, i don't know maybe 7 layers high..... three, the cake is moist and the frosting fudgy. it's the kind of cake you'll want a glass of milk to wash it down.

my other favorite cake is the coconut cake at asia de cuba. it rocks too!!!

                              happy desserting!!!!

My friend who dragged me to Ruby Foo was also raving about the chocolate cake. I actually enjoyed some of the desserts (a peanut butter and banana tart and carrot cake), but I didn't like the chocolate at all. It tasted artificial to me.
