Board addresses changed? Links dead now?

I tried to access my link to the Los Angeles board, but get a message saying "Cant find your link". Searched and found it, but apparently all the board links have been changed, for no apparent reason, typical of CH. Now, all my links to CH posts and boards are dead and useless. Thanks again, CH. I swear i'm going to find some higher-up at Cnet to complain to about such CH changes and mod behavior,

Redirects are not hard to program. This is jerking your users around for absolutely no reason.

Wow -- some of those bookmarks are really old, from before the first time we launched new software last year. I'll ask about them, but you'd probably be best to just update them to the current version. Simply taking main.html off, for example, will get you to the current front page, beetlebug.

The last example from momjamin, though, is newer, and might be more of a problem. I know we changed the addresses for the my CHOW pages a couple of weeks ago, but we did have a redirect working for awhile.

Yes, http://www.chowhound.com/main.html may be old. But, up until yesterday, it worked just fine.

Out of curiousity, why the change? Was there a technical problem?

I don't know yet. I reported it to Engineering and they're going to take a look.

Another example, http://www.chowhound.com/users/<my-chow-id> quit working -- instead I need to go to http://www.chow.com/profile/<my-ch...>

It looks like some redirects have been changed--what addresses did you have bookmarked? I'll check with engineering on whether it's deliberate or a glitch.

This is my "dead" bookmarked link.

            http://www.chowhound.com/main.html

Thanks for looking into this because it has been irritating me.

Redirects on old links like the following stopped a couple of days ago:

              http://www.chowhound.com/california/b...

As of this morning my link http://www.chowhound.com/boards/cooki...
is dead. I get the message " that there is a problem". It also asks me what I am searching for . I finally did get to Home Cooking forum by another route. so I did change my book mark. Yu guys did have me scared for awhile. I almost had a panic attack when I couldn't get to my favourite forum.

Yes, what's up with this? My link to the main page puts me onto a page that tells me it can't find chowhound. This is entirely exasperating - exceedingly annoying to have to click around to find not just what I'm looking for - but anything at all!
