Looking for: Ferro Rocher Pocket Coffee

chinwhat Feb 9, 2007 03:08 AM

well, VDay is quickly approaching and i'd like to get these for someone. She mentioned she had them when she was in Italy last year and they were awesome. I've never even heard of them before, so i don't know if anyone here sells/imports them. Anyone know where i can score some ferro rocher pocket coffee? I'm willing to go (almost) anywhere to get them, but Mississauga side preferred. Thanks!

I think you mean 'Ferrero Rocher'...and what exactly is a 'pocket coffee'?

I am dying to know what 'pocket coffee' is too, since I clearly have a dirty mind.

I was curious too so I looked it up. :) Basically it’s chocolate-covered Italian coffee. Because the sweet coffee center is concentrated, it only takes three chocolates to equal a single shot of espresso.

I found it being sold on ebay, hope that helps!

Pocket Coffee is basically a shot of espresso coffee covered in chocolate. It is VERY popular in Italy for Italians who need espresso coffee instantly but can't run to their local barrista for a shot of coffee. I lived in Rome for 5 years and it was verywhere...supermarkets, convenience stores, bars, etc. I haven't seen it anywhere in Toronto or Woodbridge or any other Italian grocery stores. If I see it.....I will share the location.

Here is a description of pocket coffee from their website for those interested (in Italian)

update: i got a lead saying that they were available at pusateris' north location. i checked it out and they said they *used* to have them around the holidays but are now sold out :( i also checked out their yorkville local, but nada. also checked out a bunch of random italian bakeries, shops in little italy and yorkville and all i got was a big goose egg. this is so depressing...

Loblaws at Richmond Hill (Hwy 7 & Bayview) still have some. It's a holiday speciality item. I was at T&T last week (Promenade Mall) and they had them too.

JACKPOT!! Million thanks ComeUndone! I went to my friendly neighbourhood T&T (Mississauga) and they had 10 boxes buried under the cherry ones. FYI they come in a box of 5 and go for $1.99. Better believe i scooped up all 10! Ah, its a week past her bday, but its better late than never, right? All I hope now is that she shares! :D

I saw them in Domino's Foods at the St. Lawrence's Market a few months ago. They are beside the cashier.

I just have to say that I think it so soooo sweet that 1, you have already started thinking about shopping for your valentine already and 2, that you would go to such great lengths to find her 'that something special"! She must be a happy girl!

Hmmmm...I just had a hankering for one of these and thought the search/Google is my friend and found this thread.

                  Any recent sightings in T.O.?

Has anyone tried calling the Cheese Boutique? They have a surprisingly wide selection of European candy. I go there for my violet-chocolate fix (since my parents are no longer Italian residents and can't send the chocolates over!).

I'm not a Pocket Coffee fan though, so I can't specifically say that I have noticed them there.

As far as I know, Ferrero Canada doesn't sell or distribute Pocket Coffee in Canada anymore.

You can order them through these sites, which will deliver to Canada:

                      http://parthenonfoods.com/pocket-coff...

                      http://www.germandeli.com/fepoco22.html

I've never ordered anything through these sites. Buyer beware ;-)

Thank you. It was worth the drive to Vaughan. Two boxes (18s) in the pantry...well two boxes less 3 pieces lost during the drive home. I think they were $9.99 a box (that's what the price on the box was when I got home and looked)
