Hey chowhounds, this is my first post but I have visited this site many times looking for great suggestion on food in Fla. I will be in Tampa this Sat. for an all day congerence on Sun. Looking for good eats in the Busch Blvd area...where my hotel is located. I have noticed the comments about China Yuan... sounds interesting, do they do take out.
thanks

  1. They do have take out....there are also a couple other take out places, but you'll have to drive a little~There is an Olive Garden right down from Busch Gardens. There are also things like Hungry Howies, Papa Johns, Thai Terrace.

Although, China Yuan has the best crab rangoons ever. MMMM~

    1. Mel's Hot Dogs is my favorite place on Busch Blvd.

      1. The ONLY recommedation is Mel's. It's an institution. Otherwise, Busch Blvd. is just a fast food strip, and an old, dirty, crowded, ugly one at that.

hold the phone, wishbugger. Frank-El near 50th and Busch serves a good soul food lunch buffet, greens, black eyed peas, fried chicken, sweet taters, etc. NOt fancy, and you may fall asleep afterward, but it is a fave of mine and co workers.

a year or two ago, two other nice places resided nearby Dona Rossina's and Baraka. Sadly, both have moved on.

My stupid reply was supposed to be about this place. Can;t wait to try it. Soul food rox!

        2. the only place I eat on Busch Blvd is Busch Gardens!

          1. do yourself a favor and eat in if you go to China Yuan. It is so much better fresh our of the wok when all the flavors are at their best. Putting hot steaming food in a cardboard container is sacrelidge to Chinese who treasure the "breath of the wok," the steaming hot goodness straight from the wok. if you must do take out, they will acommodate, but it just isn't the same!

            best, andy

            1. I have my phone in my hand. Did not know about this place, but you can bet I WILL BE THERE SOON!. Thx, dude. This was supposed to be re: Frank-El.

              1. If you like Cuban food there's a place (I think it was called something like Cucina Cafe or something close) in a plaza on Fowler Ave 1 block west of 30th st (aka Bruce B Downs). The food that I had there tasted authentic to me and I would go again. The plaza is on the north side of Fowler. Good eating to you during your stay!
