Anyone been to Avila?

Its mom's b-day on Saturday and she requested Avila. Good stuff? or should I make reservations somewhere else...

  1. It's been a few months, but I liked Avila. Think of it as being very similar in look, layout, and style to Davio's Back Bay (same ownership). Both have half a menu of high-end chophouse fare, all about grilled meat and fish. Davio's other half is creative Italian, Avila's is pan-Mediterranean: Portuguese, Spanish, Southern France and Italy, some Middle Eastern and North African. Long wine list, pretty high prices, excellent small-plates menu in the bar.

    I think I prefer Avila to Davio's, but both are little too pricey for me to consider them values. They're solid business-entertaining options, though, with nice private dining rooms and something for everyone on the menu.
