Has anyone tried the new King Biscuit Diner in Memphis? Been there twice--once for breakfast and once for dinner. It's very very good. I recommend it highly. Any thoughts? It could be the next sleeper in Memphis.

I agree!! VERY good food and large portions and reasonably priced! Also, it is a jammin nightclub several nights a week for the college crowd!! They have a wine dinner that is quite good once a month with lost of food and good wine. Dont be in a hurry though but very relaxing and PLENTY of wine, not just a sip!

I have tried it several times, because I didn't think they could please me twice. Well, they haven't failed yet. The name is different, but so is the concept. I entertained 14 people there in Feb. Everyone was pleased with their food and loved the change that happened around 10 pm. My party was the 40's and 50's crowd and we all had smiles. Call it whatever you want, just call me for dinner.

The family and I tried out King Biscuit Sunday, lunch. Husband and I had omlettes that were superb. (Western and Turkey) My daughter tried the apple stuffed french toast and left very little behind. The menu is very interesting and took us several minutes to make choices. We will be back soon.

On the northwest side of Dexter at Germantown Parkway in a small strip center.

Yes I'm afraid the image the name conjurs up doesn't match what they really are--the great quality of the food not whithstanding.
Ate there valentine's evening. Very good meal. AND they gave all the female diners a little gift bag which was a very nice customer-friendly treat.
The only drawback was the fact that the bartender was extremely loud and could be heard throughout the restaurant. Not the most palatable for a supposed quiet evening. It's like they're part sports bar, semi-upscale restaurant, late evening bar with dj's.
My personal feeling is that they should change the name, stick with the upscale feeling and continue to serve quality food and forget trying to be all things to all people.
And FYI-My understanding is that the same person who opened and owns Swanky's opened King Biscuit.
BUT having said all that, I will continue to go back. I really love the food. Breakfast rivals Brother Juniper's, albeit on a bit of a different scale. And the martinis are really good too.

Had the club sandwich there, which was very good, but the menu seems a little upscale to be called the King Biscuit Diner, so it didn't match my expectations. Still, I'll be returning.
