Wolfe Burger, Pasadena

WildSwede Feb 7, 2007 12:09 PM

You know when there is a place, just a few short blocks from home, but you tend to forget about it? Well, that is Wolfe Burger for me. However last weekend I went in since I was craving a hot dog so stopped in. The dog was good, split in half. I love it when a place actually char grills their meat. I ordered that and an order of onion rings and went out to their really nice, really relaxing outdoor patio. Man, those onion rings rock!! I was craving them so much that I went back again yesterday and ordered the 1/4 lb cheeseburger and onion rings (this time cooked well done). FANTASTIC! Even better than when cooked regular. I love that they have that nice condiment bar. Almost everything you could want. Also, they apparently serve many breakfast choices (including some Mexican items) that I have yet to try. I also noticed that when you drop $1 into the tip jar, the number of onion rings increases significantly!! ;-)

WolfBurger! I haven't been in years but have fond memories of going there with my pop; I was fixated on the neon sign with the male and female wolf on it.

Yeah, great place. Love the condiment bar.

You should try the breakfast burritos if you ever get a chance. Also, if you like fish burgers (like me), then the "Sea Wolfe" is a very good option.

Plus, they serve beer and wine!

What does a 'fish burger' comprise? Thanks.

Very astute observation. I have driven by there for years but never stopped. When I get mobile again I gotta try this place, char grill and rings!

Did you know Wolfe Burger was featured in an movie a few years ago about a guy who cryonically preserved some time in the 1950's and is discovered in a warehouse in Pomona years later and revived, what the hell this has to do with burgers is beyond me, but its another reason why I keep meaning to stop by this joint.

Do they have turkey burgers? I've never walked in there because I don't eat beef.

            No turkey burger.

But they do have an avocado burger, as well as a mushroom burger.

Plenty of sandwiches, gyros and burritos.

Actually, the DO have a turkey burger, at least according to the menu I found online.

They do have turkey burgers... I work in the building right next door and go often. It has slipped a bit the past few months and they raised their prices a bit but still best around...

I'll have to try it out then. I'm doing a slow, random taste test of turkey burgers.

I've only been once. Got a burger and chili cheese fries. Both items were too salty...unpleasantly so. Is it always like that or was this a fluke?

I think the Chili Cheese Fries salt was a fluke. I had them again tonight (go small...it's huge) and ended up adding some salt. Perhaps I keep getting unsalted french fries?

I have never noticed over-saltiness, but then again, I am the person whose brother swears he is going to buy me a salt lick!! ;-)

So after reading WildSwede's post I realized I had never had a Wolfe Burger's dog despite going there for years. So today went for the chili dog. It's quite a meal for only about $4. You can order mild or spicy chili, and it's the thick kind that stays in place on a burger or dog. The chile dog is actually slightly ridiculous like a giant burrito. There is so much stuff topping the bun that it sits flat and you almost can't pick it up and bite in unless you're like one of those snakes that can unhinge their jawlines to open really wide.

I like the Big Bad Wolf myself. It's the same as the Wolf burger but with 2 patties. The fries are excellent and you can't ever argue with free refills. Like you said, sitting in the back is serene.

To some on this board it's heresy, but to me I get it more than Pie and Burger.
