Palm Springs Weekend - Help

estone888 Feb 7, 2007 08:27 AM

One as great as possible place for dinner, money no object, need to be able to book it between now and either Friday or Saturday night.

One mid-priced (up to about $30 per person) place as good as possible for dinner.

Lunch? Breakfast?

Thanks for any help you can be.

I recommend LG's Steakhouse for the "money is no object" place - went there about 6 months ago and it was very good.

Which one did you go to? I've always been disappointed in the service & steaks that often come out overcooked 'because the plates are so hot, they keep cooking.' Well, compensate for that, then...

I do second Le Valluris, though. Again, a search will show up a lot of info.

I went to the one in Palm Springs. The service was good, the food really good (ours were not overcooked).

I think I've only been to PD, so will check out PS next trip! I'm not super big on steaks in the desert, but maybe with this weather!!

The California message board is truly the place for all things Coachella Valley. Much conversation on it for you to peruse.
However, for Mexican in ps, I do like El Mirasol at 130 E. palm canyon, right in the turn at the south end of town. Full bar, $30 covers dinner easily, and provides a great lunch for even less.

Le Vallauris for money no object
Zin American Bistro for ~$30 per person
Manhattan in the Desert for lunch (outstanding huge deli sandwiches for cheap)
        Breakfast/Brunch Dale's Lost Highway
Some people like More than a Mouthful for breakfast. I think its okay and it was being remodeled recently.

Can you please say more about Dale's Lost Highway? I find only one other brief mention of it on chowhound.

We had lunch at Dale's today. An excellent burger, an okay bbq brisket sandwich. Nice enough for that sort of thing and drinks. We're going to Zin for dinner tonight on several recommendations.

I didn't like Dale's. My taquitos tasted like catfood. More than a Mouthful closed for remodeling Feb07 till?

Actually More Than a Mouthful is reopening under a new name, probably new management. I think it will be called Its All About Breakfast. I personally thought the old place was just okay.

Dale's is not a Mexican restaurant, I'd stick to their salads and burgers which are very good.
