Stango's in Glen Cove- Any one been?
We have a voucher for this restaurant but have never been. Any opinions out there? The address is 19 Grove Street in Glen cove. Is thi8s a dressy place? Any favorites on the menu?

so this is not a place to get dressed up and order cocktails at the bar before dinner?
we could not tell as this was a gift certificate that was handed out at a pretty fancy function.

Noooooooooooooooooo. No exageration either.

It's a jeans type place. The bar area is very "Archie Bunker's Pace."

Again, decent food, not a destination restaurant by any means though. A good Friday night type place for a casual meal.

It's decent and not overpriced. Very casual. Think 1960's style room, w/ cheesy gray plywood pannelling on the walls to boot. It's like stepping into a time warp.

But, some of the standards are good, i.e. veal franchese, decent baked clams. Personally, I think the pizza is terrible, very doughy and lacking any flavor, made w/ polly-o cheese, not fresh mozarella.

In short, you could do worse.

the chicken parm is good.. pastas are good.. very basic traditional italian.. dont expect to be blown away but its a decent family style meal

I grew up eating at Stango's. Great, old-fashioned family neighborhood restaurant. It's in the part of Glen Cove that is an historic Italian neighborhood called the Orchard. It's casual at anytime ... good pasta dishes and nice standard pizza ... old-school, red-checkered tablecloth, red sauce type place. Been around for close to 90 years.
