South Asian in SF

I have a choice this evening for dinner down near the Mission BART station:
Dosa
or
Aslam's Rosoi.

Which should I chosoe and why?
Is there something in that approximate area that I should consider instead?

If you recomment Dosa, it looks as though they do not have a liquor license. If that is so, can I bring beer in?

Thanks in advance from a Boston Hound.

My friends and I like Aslam's Rosoi better. There is nothing wrong with Dosa's -- but I like that vegetarians have many more options at Aslams. And you have to get the Chai tea at Aslams -- Actually, you have to order a lot more than you were planning on eating because it is all so good.

I think Aslam's Rosoi is one of the best kept secrets of SF restaurants. It's only a matter of time before everyone discovers how good it is.

I eat at both fairly often. Both are casual, neighborhood places. Dosa specializes in the cuisine of southern India. Aslam's Rasoi is more of a traditional Indian restaurant with menu items from all over. If you want curries, rice, etc. go to Aslam's Rasoi. For apps and dosas go to Dosa. Both are really good but Dosa is busier so depending on the time you go, there may be a wait.

The food at Dosa has been very good every time we have been there. Its close to where we live, so we do go there fairly often. Definitely try one of the" Dosa"s their. The Sambar they serve with the dosa is real good. I would definitely rate it one of best places (if not the best place) for South Indian food in the SF Bay area (and I have tried all of the south indian places in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara/Mountain View area...)

In my last visit I noticed they have started a "tasting menu", with wine pairings.

Since we had our 3-year old with us, I did not get to try the tasting menu. But it did look interesting.

Dosa has beer and wine, probably the biggest selection of any Indian place in SF:
