MMM_London Feb 6, 2007 01:56 AM

I am heading to Bath this weekend for the first time and hoping for a dinner suggestion for Saturday night - looking for somehwhere with a great atmosphere and good food!!

Any help would be much appreciated (and if you have any lunch recommendations those would be welcome as well)!!

Many thanks

I went there a few months ago with my girlfriend and had a great meal at the Moon and Sixpence - however I just checked the website and apparently it's closed for refurbs for a while, so I guess that doesn't help much (http://www.moonandsixpence.co.uk/) but if you do ever go back when it's open it's worth a try. Food was flavourful, interesting, and not too pretentious, and the restaurant itself had a good energy and was pretty relaxed, but still good enough for a romantic dinner.

There was a great little pub (very little!) around the corner that was sort of a CAMRA kind of place that had brilliant sandwiches - freshly sliced rare roast beef on thickly sliced wholegrain bread with a good quantity of horseradish (just writing this is making me hungry!) It's called the Old Green Tree http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/... - a perfect place for a saturday lunch.

I tried the Firehouse Rotisserie one of the last times I went there and I must say that I was well happy with the quality of the food as well as the environment. Back then it was quite hard to get a table so I'd call ahead to make sure.

You can find more info here: http://www.firehouserotisserie.co.uk/
