Canned Tuna

I'm curious to know what you think of the Jewish brands, such as Season, Dagim, Gefen, Dag Yam, and King of the Sea. Do you think they're as good as Bumblebee, Chicken of the Sea and Starkist?

BS"D Try Tasty Tuna brand (bishul and from the phillapines). It is about 1.39/can individually, less for case qtys in the Chicago area. I think you will like it.

I too agree with PapaT. I usually find that the Bishul Yisroel brands of most things are inferior.

Just to clarify - I did not mean all types of food made by bishul yisrael - just Tuna.

I like the spicy King of the Sea tuna (with the yellow-and-orange label).

For normal tuna, I usually get Gefen, and haven't noticed anything bad about it, but I rarely if ever get the "normal" brands, so I can't really compare.

With salmon, though, my favourite is Icy Point. I find it tastes much better than the Jewish brands I've tried. (I'm talking pink salmon here; I don't like red salmon at all, so I can't comment on the merits of different brands.)

I agree with PapaT. Though, Dagim and Gefen have definitely produced better products than were available years ago, including their canned tuna and salmon. The one benefit to King of the Sea tuna is that it is supposed to have one of the lowest mercury levels.
