Searching great cantonese restaurant in Melbourne

tinkerfun Feb 4, 2007 10:26 PM

Hi there,

My family and I are heading to Melbourne during Chinese New Year and we are seeking a great cantonese restaurant that serves AUTHENTIC cantonese food for the most important dinner of the year - our reunion dinner.

Can anyone help?

Really appreciate any suggestions.

Little Bourke St off Swanston St is The Place to be for Chinese New Year in Melbourne. There are so many good Chinese restaurants on both sides of the street. Take your pick. The top Chinese restuarant in Melbourne is called Flower Drum. Have fun and enjoy.

Pacific House on Toorak Rd, South Yarra or Victoria St, Richmond. Superb Cantonese fare at reasonable prices. Flower Drum is tops but heinously expensive and difficult to book.

I strongly reccomend the Pacific Seafood and Barbecue House. The Pacific House.... The original Richmond location is crowded but fun if you are the friendly type... The Toorak road location in So. Yarra is excellent as well. Call for reservations to avoid a wait.
Other suggestions; Silks at the Crown Casino is good. The Flower Drum is as stated, extreamly expensive even considering the FX and difficult to book.

Im probably too late now however Lau's kitchen in St Kilda would fit your description perfectly - it is the little, much less exepensive sister of Flower Drum.
