4 and 20 Blackbirds- Worth the Drive?

Thinking of driving out to Flint Hill, VA, to try this place for dinner (not brunch). Can anyone provide a review? Any recent experiences? Thanks!

  1. Made the drive out there on a beautiful spring day last year, it was definitely worth the trip. All the dishes were very good and the service was excellent.

    1. Absolutely worth the drive for dinner or brunch, especially during nice weather. Was there last for dinner in the fall - we went out on a Saturday for an earlyish dinner, preceded by visiting a few of the wineries in the general area. have done a similar thing for late-ish sunday brunch......Can't think of anything they've ever served me that I didn't enjoy.

      1. Depends what you're looking for. You're not going to find anything earth-shatteringly creative, but we had wonderful food when we went a little over a year ago. If you make a day of it and visit some of the area wineries (as we and others did -- we really liked Linden), it's worth it. A mini-vacation.

        1. I went out there after wine tasting and apple picking a little over a year ago, and it was a meal that always sticks out in my mind. I agree that nothing was earth shattering, but it was the right combination of homey decor, good food, great service and plenty of food. I don't remember what we ordered, but I do remember that the portions were definitely hearty, and they have a big selection of local wines there. If you're heading out to that area (either for hiking or wine tasting), I'd say there's no better place to stop.
