WINE TOUR AROUND SPAIN
Learnning about wines is one of the most beautiful experiences, not only for its taste, color and smel, but also for its history and the local adatation; the firts thing I'll say is that there is no better wine, there is a better sellection as a marriage with the wine for food. I live in Barcelona, & I'm in love with all the wines from Spain, especially the ones from Catalunya (Priorat, Penedes, Alella, ....) Something I really enjoy is touring around Spain in a kind of gastronomical tour, to learn about all the wine regions of Spain it will take you a long time, but I'll try to resume. Starting in Barcelona, noth side we foun Alella, Dedicated to White wines, if we go south we found Penedes where you will find red, white, and rose whines and Cava, My friend Pere Mata i Coloma creates very original wine and Cava (this area is so beautiful), going west fou get in the Priorat, where the time looks did stop some time ago, the especial land caracteristics makes the red wines of this area very rich in taste, smell and color, in the village of Porrera, Mia owns a restaurant; leaving catalunya, I just say the names of the places to go: Rioja ( in Logroño city, Laorel street), In the "pirineos Aragoneses" Somontano Whines, in the middle of Spain (Ribera del Duero), in the north west (Galicia) you'll be sorprised by the sea food and the good quality of the white wines (Rias Baixas). It loks difficult and very expensive to visit all this places, but if you have time enough, "El camino de Santiago" (Saint James route), crosses Spain from east to west in about 30 days walking, eatting and drinking the speciallities of each area; during nigths, the peregrins may sleep in the Refugges (simple aconditionated with shower rooms, .....) for about 2 $ per night, visiting old churches and cathedrals, historical cities, as a sinopsis I'd say that taste good food & good wine is not that expensive!
