Kyoto Sushi - Atlantic Highlands

val ann c Jan 31, 2007 12:34 PM

Thanks the the chowhounds who recommended this place.
We really enjoyed the "oyster appetizer" -- impeccable oysters served raw on a bed of ice, dressed with clear sauce, a stripe of chili sauce and minced scallions. Clean, delicious, and only $4.95 for four oysters.
The sushi is considerably better than our usual place, Sono Sushi in Middletown. (Though I'm not saying Sono is bad.)
At Kyoto, the vegetable tempura, miso soup, and green tea ice cream were the standard stuff. We didn't try any of the cooked food. We will go back for the sushi and those wonderful oysters.

Kyoto Sushi & Hibachi Restaurant. (732) 708-1088. 2389 State Route 36, Atlantic Highlands
- located in CVS shopping strip.

    I'm glad you liked it val ann c. I agree that sushi is the thing there. I tried a noodle soup once and it was pretty disappointing. The really fresh sushi, the clean calm interior and the really nice staff make it one of my favorites.
