A repeat:
There are other good tacquerias in Reston/Herndon. I have posted a list a few times on the board, but I'm having a hard time finding it, so:
El Taco Chevere - Sterling clock tower
Taco Truck on Rt7 just east of Baron Cameron
Lakeside Cafe - Lake Anne Plaza (I really like this place)
The Mercado in the parking lot of Lake Anne (poor service though)
There are two places in the K-Mart shopping center;
- One is at the far side near Gold's gym - SLOOOWW
- The other is behind McDonald's in the same strip as Teocalli Tamale (haven't been in awhile so I can't vouch anymore - I think PollyG did post something good about them last year)
- There is also a place called El Dorado that you'll see - haven't been there at all yet›7 Replies-
re: Dennis S
Wanted to update my list with a new find. In oldtown Herndon on Lynn St - first storefront from Elden - A tacqueria/puppusuria (sp?) that I just tried.
Good broad menu, ample space for dining there, Salvadoran based. I had the tacos today which were good, but I'm going to head back for either the chorizo con huevos or the bistec ensebollado very soon (maybe tomorrow).
Oh, and the taco truck at Rt7 has moved to I don't know where and imo Teocalli Tamale has fallen off a cliff in terms of quality and service.

Not much to choose from other than chains (Moe's, Don Pablo's, etc.) Though La Tolteca in Countryside (in the Silo building) isn't bad. It's sister restaurant is in Fairfax. A new place called Del Ray just opened in Broadlands, but I haven't heard anything about it. I'm a fan of Tortilla Factory in Herndon, just outside of Loudoun. It's not necessarily authentic but I've been eating there for 20 years straight.

There's a little place in downtown Leesburg, can't remember the name of it. Its about 2 houses behind the Mom's Apple Pie, look for a small dirt fill parking lot to your left.
Also, we have been enjoying Casa Gonzales (37 Catoctin Cir SE Leesburg, VA 20175; 703-779-8620 ). They have some wonderful mole!
