Good but inexpensive restaurant in the upper west village/chealsea area?

My best friend's mom is in town for a couple nights and she wants to take us out to dinner. I want to impress her with a nice restaurant and good food, but I don't want to stick her with too high of a bill. I work at 8th ave and 14th St, and we're going to dinner right after. Any suggestions?

  1. Crispo is right there.

    1. Take a look at my post from last (Monday) evening about Cafe Cuba....

      1. Valdino West on Hudson and Bank. Great food (Italian), warm service, cozy space. You can't go wrong.

        1. I second Crispo. 240 W 14th St.

          1. GOOD is good for this too as is MAROONS.
