Search Engine Question

Am I imagining it, or can I no longer search on specific boards? I remember a few short weeks ago I did a search on the Florida board and when I tried to do that again I just got a list of all these other references. That isn't what I want. I want to investigate restaurants that other people experienced and recommended. I'm not interested in recipes, blogs, stories or anything else. Tell me how I do this now. Please.

  1. Use the "Filter by Board Name" link in the search results.

Sometimes it doesn't appear. If that happens, just start a new search.

    1. there are a lot of problems with this function. when i get ZERO results for looking up "coffee" there has got to be something ridiculously wrong.

Are you still seeing that problem? Search was broken for a short time this afternoon, but it should be working again now.

it's fine now, that problem seems to kick in every so often then.

and to Val, i just do a ctl+F and use the browser search function at that point. hope that helps.

Thanks so much, princess...will try it!

      2. The search function isn't as good now as before the conversion...the word you are searching for is no longer highlighted in yellow so you have to read each post that comes up in the results to find what you're looking for, really frustrating and extremely time-consuming.

Agreed; it would be great if the highlighting of searched-for words was restored. Does anyone know if this issue is being addressed?

        2. Yes. Please restore the highlighting feature; otherwise search is virtually worthless. Also, we need an advanced search so that we can use search for word combinations (e.g. "North Hollywood") and not numerous meaningless results for each word. The very original search feature was slow & difficult; I was pleased when the new chowhound improved it and wonder why all those improvements have been eliminated. Unfortunately, the search has regressed with these recent changes (which have brought no visible improvement to my knowledge); please at the least restore what we had!

Totally agreed. I'm finding the search feature very useless now.

          2. Please bring back the old search functionality, especially concerning the highlighting of the search terms.
