Geechee Girl Cafe - Thank you for the recommendation!

AmblerGirl Jan 29, 2007 09:12 AM

My husband and I went to Geechee Girl Cafe on Sunday at the recommendation of some folks on this baord and it was absolutely wonderful. Even though it was a simple brunch, the food was amazing. My husband had a perfectly cooked omelet and sweet potato hash browns. I had a fish fry with absoutely perfect crispy fish in a cornmeal batter (not greasy at all), the best grits I ever tasted, and amazing greens. We also had grilled pineapple in a ginger sauce, also delicous. The service was great, the decor was nice and understated, and the owner came out to chat a few times and was very nice. I cannot wait to go back for dinner. I would never have even heard of that great restaurant without the recommendations on this board so... Thank you!

Geechee Girl is really excellent. It deserves twice as much business as it gets (business that could easily be spared by some of the many Mt.Airy-Chestnut Hill mediocrities like...I guess I won't name names, but there are plenty of them). Creative, interesting food, very well made. It's a standout in the whole Philly area.

This restaurant is for anyone who would enjoy something
a little different. The owners are very friendly and take
a lot of pride in their restaurant and food. Bringing your own wine helps out with the check also.
