I'm having lunch today at EMP for Restaurant Week. Has anyone had the RW lunch? What's on the menu. I very much enjoy Chef Humm's dinner menu, but am curious as to what he's doing for Restaurant Week. Thanks for your help.

Just returned from a wonderful RW lunch. I started with a wonderful soup (veloute) that had curry, lemongrass and scallop. My main course was the salmon with horseradish crust and a wonderful foam (a winner!). My sister had the gnocchi with tiger prawns (also delicious!). I ended with the frozen espresso parfait (probably not the best thing to order on such a cold day, but nonetheless delicious too). We all had a glass of the Gerwertzraminner (forgive the mispelling) juice--absolutely delicious especially since I had to go back to work. I am taking a cooking demonstration class at Macy's DeGustibus this spring with Chef Humm; I can't wait.

I confess, I was scouring the room trying to figure out who you (ellenost) might be. Alas, the restaurant is large and you could've been anyone.

I ordered the tuna appetizer, which was served in cubes along with pickled radishes and tangerines. A beautiful dish (looked like Easter) and very tasty. My father ordered the same dish, and I have to comment on an inconsistency - having to do with the color of the fish. My father's tuna cubes were bright red, whereas mine were more pink than red. Excellent all the same.

I went with the lamb entree, and loved that it was ever so slightly charred around the edges, giving way to tender, moist and falling-apart-in-the-middle, meat. Delicious. The broth on the bottom of the plate could be bottled and sold as it was.

For dessert, I chose the chocolate, banana parfait. This was good, but you could tell that Nicole Kaplan was gone. The restaurant will need a great replacement or the current pastry chef needs to step it up a notch to match DH's savory courses.

All in all, my 10th visit to Eleven Madison Park (under three different chefs) was terrific.

Not sure how they do it, but nearly every time I eat there (especially at lunch) we get the same table...which is terrific, because we *love* the table that we nearly always get.

Service was fantastic (please read my review of the Orchard to see a comparison). We also received a $24.07 gift certificate that I look forward to using. In the past, this was simply a $20 gift certificate and only given out on the first day of Restaurant Week. Nice way to step it up guys.

A great restaurant and probably the best Restaurant Week option.

Also went to EMP for lunch yesterday. Service was very impersonal, unusual for a Danny Meyer restaurant. There were 4 of us so we shared most of the menu...beet salad was like a vibrant mosaic, roasted jeruselem artichokes with hazelnuts were outstanding, tuna was as descibed in the other posts. Main courses...salmon was the best of the three we had...lamb was delicious but a tiny portion...poached chicken was very underseasoned. We all reached for the salt and pepper during the meal. All desserts were good...cheese portion was miniscule.
A good not great RW meal.

I just went to EMP today and I ordered the same dishes as dkstar1. The savory courses were delicious but the dessert was lacking a bit. Not that it was bad but it wasn't as great as the savory items.

I blogged about my experience in depth at EMP.

I read your review on your blog and posted a comment and request. To add to that...I miss some of the old things...particularly the leaf-molded butter, those wonderful, gothic chandeliers and who can forget...the gougeres!

In case you haven't gotten my response, you certainly may use my photos. I really miss the chandeliers and the butter. I think I wasn't in the restaurant/dining scene for the gougeres. Hmmm...
