That's very lacking at Krispy Roll. A good hot & sour soup. Theirs has nothing but tofu in it and I have to add hot sauce. The last great hot & sour I had was at King Chai at Pharmacy & Sheppard (now defunct). I'll definitely try Pho Saigon. Thanks Tara9000.
That said, KR has some nice dishes and you really can't beat their prices. 8 dollars means I always have enough leftovers for another lunch.

re: Googs
I found the secret to getting quality at Krispy Roll is to avoid the 'specials'. They're for your average luncher who wants to fill-up for cheap. The seafood hot & sour on the regular menu is delicious even though it could stand a bit more heat. Makes an entire meal in itself so it may not appear to be a bargain, but is.

re: Googs
I would absolutely agree with that. The lunch specials are watered down versions of the real thing.
Ironically, Krispy Rolls doesn't actually have great rolls. Their spring roll and cold rolls are mediocre at best. I do believe they offer the make-your-own options but I haven't had the opportunity to try it there.
The lamb stew and hue style pho are both very good. I've been fond of the curry chicken pho as well.
It's good for the area its in.

Word of warning...most of the rest of Krispy Rolls' offerings are bland and boring. I'd avoid, actually.

re: Googs
I've only been to Krispy Rolls a couple of times, and enjoyed it both times. Also been to Pho Saigon a few times and really enjoy it as well. I remember going into Pho Saigon one afternoon in the middle of a heat wave - it was hot hot hot outside. They immediately offered us cold tea, which we so appreciated!

re: Suburban Gourmand
I've been a few times and found the food to be quite good. I'd recommend their hot and sour soup. Very different... it even had okra in it and was extremely tasty. I've also tried a few curry dishes that were great. Didn't think their cold rolls were as good as Pho Huong or Pho 88.
