Chinese caterers?

Pei Jan 28, 2007 11:56 PM

Are there any notable Chinese caterers in Los Angeles/Orange County who can do a wedding for 120?

I can't imagine how a Chinese chef would operate away from his 150,000btu stove plus wok, but I have to ask.

Ummm...they are owned by the same group. Same owner. Same management. Same Corporate office......Same Corporate Chefs...........Same R&D......hence.......essentially its Panda Express in a fancy dress. :D

Opps just realized this is an old thread.

I second Pearl Catering. Also, almost all Cantonese restaurants (Sam woo, New Capital, Sea Harbor will cater if you are willing to pay, since there are logistics to work around.

I am excited to say that Din Tai Fung is going to make dumplings at my party in downtown L.A. They are going to make them and steam them on site and they will bring greenbeans and fried rice already cooked. This is the first time they are doing this but they said that they have done things like this a few times at the Arboretum up the street so if you want to have your event there, maybe DTF would cater.

            Good luck!

A lot of Chinese brides use Grace Catering (www.gracecatering.com) and Furiwa Seafood Restaurant in Garden Grove. There was a Chowhound thread on Furiwa last year.

I used Grace Catering for my wedding. They food is not the best, but the service is definitely good.

Try Pearl Catering aka Lu Din Gee, the place that's famed for its peking duck.

The best is Cecie who used to own Joss in West Hwd. She caters and also decortes for the occasion. I have 3 phone numbers, not sure which work:
                  310-277-6182
                  310-922-8686-cell
                  310-276-1866-used to be Joss' number
If you need a reference you can email me at pagor11@yahoo.com
