Cant remember if there were masala dosas on menu but there is a new Indian on Mendocino , I think in 400 block it's near downtown on right as you head our of town
we tried it for the lunch buffet. it wasn't fabulous but some dishes were ok , people were very nice and decor is nicely done. Sorry I dont remember the name (but don't confuse it with the one on the opposite side which I think has been there for a while)

Nirvana on Mendocino Avenue in SR is the new place across from Sizzling Tandoor, the old place. Both are reviewed here. A recent thread on Nirvana by Snarkygirl explored these & other Sonoma County Indian restaurants. I don't remember any of them being South Indian specifically.

Could you be thinking of Om South Indian Cuisine in San Rafael?

I think the restaurant you're referring to is Nirvana, which has gotten polar reactions on chowhound. Here's the link: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/37229.... I thought waiting an hour and a half for mediocre food was ridiculous, but others have had excellent food on time. I'd love to hear what you think.

That restaurant is Sizzling Tandoor, Mendocino Ave & 5th Street.

It's not within Santa Rosa proper, but nearbyish, in Rohnert Park, there is a newish Indian place that serves both North and South Indian food and has gotten good reviews from friends of mine who have eaten there for the lunchtime buffet. (not sure if they have masala dosas) It's called Priya. Here's a link to a local review (biteclub): http://biteclub.pressdemocrat.com/def...

I've been meaning to write about Priya for a few weeks, and even now don't have time to sit down and do it justice, but I've eaten there at the lunch buffet four times, and every time it's been incredible. I haven't actually looked at the menu (!) so don't know about masala dosa. But it's a fabulous buffet, a wide variety of dishes, each distinctly flavored. Twice there has been goat curry that was delicious. The vegetable curries (and there are several different ones every time) are wonderful: in each case you can really appreciate the taste of the vegetable itself, but enhanced and somehow made more complete by the curry. I'll prepare a more informative report soon.

Oh good. I've been trying to encourage my friend to post his review, but he's lazy about that sometimes. :P I looked on Priya's menu on their website, and they have a nice list of different dosas but I'm not sure if they are part of the lunch buffet or not. It sure all sounds delish though. Gotta check it out myself soon. Okay...so let's see if my AddAPlace worked...sometimes it's a bit wonky:
