Virginia Beach Taco Truck

I heard a rumor that there was a taco truck guy somewhere in Virginia Beach.
I have yet to find any tolerable mexican food since I moved here in October and I am DYING.
Does anyone know if this mystery taco man exists? Or, if there is a mexican joint anywhere around here with good food?

  1. There was an article in the Va Pilot a month or so ago about the taco truck. It's at the Citgo station on Virginia Beach Blvd., near the Pavilion. Hours at the time of the article were Friday 11-5, Sat. and Sun. 9-5. [not been there myself].

    1. And no, sadly, there is really no good Mexican in this area :(

      1. Have you tried the San Jose Taqueria? I lived in San Diego for many years and absolutely love the food at this restaurant, tastes like the food across the border. Very rustic.

        1. the tacos where very good maybe best in town but the guy went to jail for making fake passports no kidding

          1. Best tacos in town are at Pelon's at the Oceanfront. Family owned. They moved here from Southern California. Great!!

I just drove by there the other day and wondered what was up.. I guess I'll have to go back out there and try them.

            2. Mi Hogar on Military Hwy in Norfolk is pretty good.

              1. Hey everyone, I was hoping for an update on the Virginia Beach taco truck. Is it still in business? If so, is it the same location, days, times, etc.? Thanks.

well, the owner, Narciso Salas, is now in federal prison for supplying false immigration documents. Turns out "El Taco Tote" was just a front for his business. The food was OK -- and that is from someone who grew up on Mexican food.

aye carumba! - i was more interested in it from the standpoint of uniqueness in it's offering, rather than the quality of it's offering, but it seems that there was much more than meets the eye! --- thanks for the info
