Looking for a Stone crab fix in Sarasota/ Bradenton area. Is Billy's in St Pete Beach best option?

  1. That's easy. Captain Curt's on Siesta Key. Kinda a dive though. Stay in the fron room if you're not into Elvis karoake.

Thanks Yosemite. We did hit Captain Curts and the food was good. But the Sone Crab was $29 so we passed and found other choices.

    2. I think the best place is Moore's Stone Crabs as they have their own fishing boats. Its on the North end of Longboat on Broadway. Its excellent. Irwin

      1. Fishing Village of Cortez just S.E. of Anna Maria

        1. Columbia Restaurant on St. Armands Circle in Sarasota has wonderful jumbos, and amazingly always has them on opening day- October 15. The newly reopened Mattison's Riverside at Twin Dolphins Marina in Bradenton has them.
If you want to pig out, buy them at Bell Fish Co., where 124th St. W. dead ends, off Cortez. $18 a pound for the large, and eat 'em home for a third of the restaurant prices. Star Fish Company, next door to Bells, has them for a little more in their retail store, and has a quaint waterfront restaurant in the back that serves them. I ate there yesterday, and brought home a few pounds from Bells. At Morton's gourmet store in Lakewood ranch they are $35/ pound. Yikes!

          1. Moore's Stone Crab gets a strong second from me. It's also on the water, you can get there by boat, and, most importantly, it's the real thing.
