Good fish sandwiches

  • t

I have a craving for a good fish sandwich where the fish is grilled or broiled.
I am considering Rocknfish in Manhattan beach. BTW, it doesn't need to be in Manhattan beach. I live in the LAX area so I will drive most anywhere.

  1. Here are a bunch of suggestions for you...

In this thread I mention that my friends really like the fish sandwich at Houston's, but I'm not sure if it's grilled, broiled, or fried (I've never been there myself.

I can personally recommend the Fish Grill on Beverly, just west of La Brea. Super kick ass grilled fish, either as a plate or sandwich.

They also have a new branch at:

      Fish Grill
      12013 Wilshire Blvd.
      West Los Angeles
      (310) 479-1800

    2. the fish sandwich at Houstons (mentioned bove) is really good. you have the choice grilled or pan-fried. Go with the grilled.

      1. I like the catfish po-boy (or softshell crab, if it's available) at the Gumbo Pot at the Farmer's Market (3rd/Fairfax). I usually wash it down with a beer from the bar that's directly behind their counter [the one where the bartender is usually playing chess with the regulars].

        1. I really love the blackened salmon sandwich at Rock n Fish. Just had it this week for lunch with steamed spinach on the side. Service isn't so great though.....

Rock n FIsh is where I ended up going and I got the blackened salmon sandwich also. It was really good. That was the 2nd time I had been there and I wasn't disappointed. I haven't had a problem with their service. I sat outside both times.

          2. I am a huge fan of the Ahi "Burger" at Library Alehouse on Main in Santa Monica. It's not a burger at all - seared ahi steak with wasabi cole slaw on a nice roll. Get the sweet potatoe fries to go with...
