Mexican in Pasadena, Glendale

Hungri Jan 27, 2007 07:55 AM

I'm looking for a tasty Mexican menu in the Pasadena/Glendale area for lunch. 7 of us are celebrating a going away event.

La Cabanita in Montrose is great. Do a search for the place on this board and you'll find many positive reviews. I love the homemade corn tortillas and pork pozole.

Hole-in-the-wall Taco stand with awesome tacos and quesadillas - El Tapatio #2 on Glendale near Chevy Chase and open very late (after a long night of drinks...)

La Fuente on Colorado Blvd is really good. (in eagle rock, just east of Target)
          The owners are great.

Igot a burrito there once that was really, really good! But I would not think of it as a celebration place. Mijares is always good and fun. They are in Pasadena on Pasadena between California and Del Mar.

How about Babita in San Gabriel? About 2.5 miles south of Pasadena.

The illustrious Jonathan "Iron Gut" Gold gives high praise to Tonny's on Orange Grove in Pasadena for their chili verde - tops in LA, so the story goes.

Double the rec for Tonny's, but if there are seven people at lunch time you might need to eat out in the parking lot! I think they have ONE table that'll seat more than four inside; there's a terrace out back that's OK if the day is nice, and some tables out front on the sidewalk I'd hate to try eating on, right on the edge of heavy traffic.
