Need last minute help for dinner tonight

Hi,

I am seriously having dinner issues. I'm trying to find a nice resto that's reasonably priced ($25 mains max) for tonight in the Annex at 7PM for 4 people. So far I've called Messis, Boulevard Cafe, and Eduardos for reservations, no dice. Serra's doesn't do reservations and the last time I showed up with 4 people for a table (15 minutes early too) they told us it would be a 1 hour wait. Any other suggestions? I don't think moving much beyond the harbord-bloor-st.george-bathurst square is an option :(

What about going north-ish to the Universal Grill?

Quite a bit north of Harbord (at Dupont and Shaw), but I second Universal Grill. Their "original ribs" are great, served with wonderful sweet potato fries, and we've really enjoyed their chicken curry. They also have some of the best onion rings in the city. If I remember correctly, the chef is Sri Lankan, and his spicing and flavours are deep and satisfying.

Universal Grill looks great, but we wanted to stay within walking distance from the SO's place (bloor/spadina area) because his parents likely won't want to walk/travel far especially in the cold.

I will have to bookmark that place for later. It looks great.
