Breakfast near Griffith Park/Zoo?

  • 9

I'm going to the Observatory tomorrow and would love some breakfast suggestions nearby. Must be yummy and not a chain restaurant. Price is secondary consideration. Thanks!

  1. How about Alcove on Hillhurst in Los Feliz? That's my favorite breakfast spot in that area.

Go about a mile and a half to the east and you might want to check out Coffee Table and Blair's (just opened for breakfast), both on Rowena. I know that some people don't like Coffee Table (I do) so if you are picky about how good the food is, Blair's might be a better bet.

Hi! Thanks so much. We went there and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was really nice - loved the outdor seating - and the food was very good. Not inexpensive, but I haven't found a good breakfast place yet that isn't Thanks again!

I'm glad that you had a great experience. I think that all of the things that you mentioned make Alcove a really nice place to go.

    2. I think you should try Blair's. There's a current thread going on their recently started breakfast and lunch service, and most all the reviews sound very promising.

I recommended Alcove but took your suggestion and found myself at Blair's late Sun morning. I really liked the food, the room, the music, but the service, although efficient and pleasant, was the slowest I've had in a long time (I usually don't mind when it's slow but this went way beyond slow.)

Blair's breakfast and lunch service just started in the last week or so, so perhaps they are still getting up to speed. In the evenings, I've always had good service at Blair's. Maybe they need to put a few of the regular servers on the morning shift for a while to train the new people.

      2. I posted on the orig thread re: Blairs - fellow Silverlakers who have tried it concur - great breakfast in the neighborhood, nice room, good coffee - much higher quality than Alcove for about the same price.

        1. They also have a restaurant at the Golf Course there at Griffith Park. And its actually not bad.

          1. Let me recommend Home, it's on Hillhurst. Good price and good quality.
