Try Brewed Awakenings or Lucca's Espresso (both on Main St.) or Java's Brewin', around the corner

I went to Luccas yesterday and will not go back. The service was pathetically slow so I had some time to look around. What struck me was how dirty the place was. Tables had not been cleaned, the floor needed a good sweeping and there seemed to be clutter everywhere. Perhaps they only give the place a good scrubbing on Monday and we had the bad luck to go on Sunday!

Oh, the hot chocolate wasn't bad but the carrot cake was synthetic.

Since you enjoyed Stage House so very much, why not drop into The Tavern, it's attached sister restaurant, for a nightcap? Not too far from Metuchen, depending which end of it you're in.

Their drink list is to die for - lots of old fashioned kind of cocktails nobody sees anymore, the kind of things our parents would have been drinking, like Grasshoppers and Pink Squirrels. Plus, of course, all the usual current drinks. Nothing gross there!

And of course they do coffee drinks too, if that is what you would prefer. They even have hot apple cider this time of year which they will serve as lovingly as tea.

It's quite the night spot for the area too - a lively crowd. I highly recommend it!

Coffee house, not bar. Tavern is a real bar, not my style but thanks

Oh I misunderstood, since you said "drink". My error.
