Where to get a yummy big cake? (Mt. View or vicinity)

Hi All,
I need to find a cake for a Baby shower of about 30 people for next friday. I have no idea how large a cake that needs to be. I'm thinking maybe a chocolate cake. What's a good place to get it from? I'm in Mountain View, but could drive to neighboring towns. Thanks.

I'd check out the Prolific Oven in downtown Palo Alto (Waverley). Their cakes have set the standard for me for quite a while. Their website, prolific-oven.com, lists a Santa Clara location too, but I haven't been to that one. I've had friends order big, sheet cakes, but you might consider getting more than one smaller one if you think people will have differing tastes.

In any case, they sell slices, so you can do 'research' :-)

have you had the asian style cakes which have light (yummy) frosting and fruit inside? there are two sheng kee bakeries in cupertino. you can see pictures here: http://www.shengkee.com/share/cgi-bin...

this is what we get for our department meetings and they have to big enough to feed about 25-30 people.
