North Shore (GC, Sea Cliff, LV, Glen Head)
I am fairly new to the area, having worked here for about 6 months now. Grew up in Brklyn, live in Queens, lived in manhattan... My greatest North Shore discovery--Razano's on Glen Street. On par with the best Italian delis in all the boroughs. Their heros are to die for, but being a deli, I doubt they are open late for dinner--so this is only good for take out lunch.

Not too long ago I got one of the special heros, called the Calabria. Man, what a freakin' great sandwich- I'm counting the days until I am in the area again. It doesn't even look that great on paper- hot sausage, hot peppers and spicy soppresata- but, as in all great sandwiches, it is all in the interplay of the ingredients. The depth and complexity of the soppresata really makes it all work and become something more than a fire-breathers' special. Wash it down with a big bottle of Manhattan Special...
Other fave places of mine have been the Peruvian place La Caravana (on Glen Street just down from Wild Fig) for rotisserie chicken, and a mean (though old-school) monster gyro next door at Andros Grill.
