What Valentine's Day menu is actually good?
A lot of restaurants already had their V-Day out (and opentable.com already published list of restaurants offering a V-Day special menu; http://www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?m=6&ref=2138&pid=102 ) and LA.com made their suggestions (http://www.la.com/dining/guides/valentinesdaydining/44343). But wondering what you guys think is actually good? either from what the menus look like now, or from previous experiences there.
Thanks.

I hate to be such a wet blanket... but none of it. The problem is that all that food gets pre-cooked, because they have to be able to turn tables faster. The whole dining out on V-Day thing is a ba-a-a-ad idea. We don't do it -- I make a lover's meal for two at home.

I concur 100% +1 with Das Ubergeek.
I enjoy dining out on V-Day just as much as I would enjoy wearing my finest cashmere sweater in a rainstorm.
But if you MUST go on V-Day, I would suggest just about any quality restaurant that does NOT offer a special V-Day menu.

I agree. Cook some hot food at home, then take your special someone out for a treat the next week after a long hard day at work!!!

We're doing the same--cooking a nice dinner at home for V-day, then going to Grace for dinner Saturday night.

Generally we try to go out that following weekend since it generally is Presidents Weekend and a 3 day weekend for many of us.

Unless you must have the typical "romantic" dining experience, I'd vote for sushi. My wife and I just go and have a good time and have some great fish at the hands of the sushi chef. Our personal favorite is Sushi Iki in Tarzana.

I usually cook, but if we do go out then we typically go for sushi. I hate having to feel "romantic" just because you're supposed to. I think we'll go to Opus either the weekend before or the weekend after.

Ha! Thanks for the feedback - I was making this inquiry for a friend (alas, I will celebrating SAD instead at a divey-bar ;) ).
