Suggestion for a restaurant for large group

Hi there,
Looking for a good, but not expensive, restaurant downtown for a group of 12.

So far, i've looked into Freeman's, but they want $50/head. I'm thinking I can find a place with a cheaper deal, but a cheaper deal.

Any suggestions??

thanks!!

Otto is a good place to consider as they do have loads of yummy options for vegetarians. Cheapest pre-fixe they have is going for 40 bucks as per their website. A lot cheaper option is to do a pre-fixe dinner thing in a Chinese resto like Congee Village in Allen St. and a newer branch which can work too. You can also check-out Gyu Kayu by Astor Place which is a Japanese steak/teppanyaki/bbq place that maybe fun to go too with a crowd. They have good pre-fixe deals for groups or you can just do ala carte as well and just order a bunch of meat and veggies to grill etc. It has a pretty high end feel to it but, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. Check there website as well if this is a cuisine that your group is amenable too.

      All good ideas here.

Just a note on Otto that I've gone there several times with large groups (a la carte), and even after wine, we've somehow never exceeded $20/head. There are fairly large eaters in the group. Unclear to me how this magic happens, but I like it.

Otto's very accommodating of large groups. Might want to see if they have space.

on a sat night (around 6:30pm), there are vegetarians and meat eaters in the mix, below 14th st, can be ala carte or pre-fixed, but not as expensive as $50/head...

        :)

Are you going on a weekend? Cuisine preference? Parameters of downtown? Below 14th St.? Are you looking at ordering ala carte or going for a pre-fixe.
