Lunch at Perbacco

Had a business lunch this afternoon at Perbacco. Had a 1:15 OpenTable reservation and the 4 of us were seated very quickly even though it appeared very busy. Order a bottle of Gavi white, $33, excellent, a great white to have other than a Pino Grigio. Ordered the salumi plate and the frito misto appetizers, neither lasted very long, very good. BTW, the little bread sticks are addicting. Entrees were 2 orders of the beef short rids, an open faced hanger steak sandwich and porcini dusted petrale sole on a bed of sauted spinach. A quick survey showed not a bite left on any of the plates. Both those who had the short ribs pronounced them some of the best they had ever eaten. I thought the petrale was perfect. Some hazelnut cookies and espressos finished this outstanding meal.

If you want an excellent business lunch, this is the place to go. Since I wasn't buying didn't see the total. Oh, service was flawless, had a wonderful server. Oh, even if it isn't business, would still give Perbacco a try for lunch, you won't be disappointed.

  1. I had lunch there today. I had the salumi plate, then the shortribs, followed by a pear dessert.

Salumi Plate - most of it was very good. There was one item that reminded me of a nasty collegehood taste - like Carl Buddig $0.49/pack processed meat. The rest I enjoyed.

Short Ribs - very good, but not a "home run." I should have ordered the lamb, or the pork shoulder.

Pear - very good, although at that point, the custardy base was too much food.

Wine - an italian red from the "by the glass" section - something that had a touch of barbera in it - a great recommendation by the waiter.

    Service - very good.

Business? Well, I chose this as a setting to discuss business, and we could barely hear each other. The noise was such that carrying a conversation was difficult.

Would I return? Sure, but not midday to discuss business.
