Show Stopping dessert for Beef Stroganoff

Having friends for dinner next week and am doing Beef Stroganoff for dinner. What are your suggestions for a really spectacular dessert? Please not creme brulee'. That's my only stipulation. I'm sick of it.

  1. Are you tired of chocolate lava cakes, too? Are you looking for something creamy, chocolate, or fruity?

I've made a chocolate marquise (think semi-frozen chocolate pudding block) with raspberry sauce that was good. Tiramisu is a good dessert, too.

Or, maybe a Pavlova with fresh fruit and whipped cream?

I am open to any kind of dessert other than the creme brulee - I've just done that one enough that I'm tired of it. Those are good!

    2. In Please to the Table Volokeh suggests a chicken conosomme and pirozhki to start before the stroganoff. of course fried potatoes are traditionally served and for dessert apples and or pears with a cold custard sauce with raspberry preserves

      1. I make a caramel chocolate tart that is crazy easy, as long as you aren't afraid of caramelizing sugar. You basically make caramel sauce, add eggs, pour it over chunks of milk and dark chocolate in a parbaked tart shell and bake until done. It's fabulous warm or room temp.

Let me know if you want me to paraphrase the recipe - it's from Emily Lucetti's dessert book (as opposed to the Stars book or the ice cream book!)

That would be great, if you don't mind!

        2. How about a pavlova with carmelized pears?
