New England-style subs

gezelliggirl Jan 24, 2007 08:15 AM

Help me out, fellow Bostonian transplants. I really need a Massachusetts-like sub. Not a sandwich, not a cheesesteak, a SUB. Preferably a steak bomb (steak, cheese, onions, etc.) but I will settle for a good cold Italian. Don't make me have to visit my mom for this, man.

We call them Hero's in NYC . Go to any good Italaian or greamn deli and you will get what you are looking for. Tell us what area you live in and we the CH's will tell you where to go .

Check out Faicco's Pork Store on Bleecker Street near 6th or 7th Ave and get the Italian special for $10 or $11. Amazing!! Its big enough for 2 or 3 depending on your appetite.

Any other advice? I've been in search for the same thing. I've found some decent heros at pizza places but haven't found a sandwich shop with quite the same offerings at the Masschusetts sub shops... (I live in the west village).

I don't think a steak bomb.....I recall D'Angelo's used to have a good one...... exists in this city.
