I keep seeing random thoughts on Jack in the Box (shakes, tacos, commercials)
on various threads.

Jack deserves his own thread- I'll start

I LOVE the Tacos- they are *delish* in a truly inexplicable and probably disgusting way

my DHs friends tease him that he once got a ticket for making an illegal U-turn when he saw a "3 Tacos for 99 cents" sign at a Jack in the Box in college

don't get me started on the commercials-
we still call it Chip-O-Taab-Lay

Their new biscuits are pretty good and evil too.

I'm a fan of Jack in the Box as well. Wish they had 'em out where I live. And I had to laugh at that episode of "Curb your Enthusiasm" where Larry David goes to the Jack in the Box and walks up to the drive-thru window because he's locked out of his car.

Seriously, Jack in the Box blows away all of the chain burger places in the Northeast.

I nearly died when they were serving incredible 50s style Patty Melts with onion and gooey cheese on sourdough bread with skin on french fries and malted milk shakes. It was all killer delicious. Of course they stopped serving them, which is probably a good thing.

I like that you can get a 20$ gift card and get a free double cheese and bacon cibatta thats like a 5$ burger.Then I can get jumbo jacks and big cheese burgers with extra lettece tomato and onion with the 20$ gift card.

Most recent commercial (during Super Bowl) very cute -- young son Jack wants to be a "vegetarian."

Tried the fish sandwich which is on special this month ($1.79). If you tell them to leave off the lettuce it is pretty decent. It's not as good as McDonalds FOF, but different in a good way. The fish is battered and pleasant. No cheese, but a nice tatar sauce. IIRC, it is like their fish and chips which are not bad ... better than anything at Long John Silvers.

Great hang-over food. Agree about the tacos and egg rolls. We used to call it "going "Jack-in-the-Box" home on the way back from nights drinking and carousing. I always have a Jack ball on my car so I can find it in the parking lot. My husband just retired mine calling it "Jack abuse" so I guess I'll have to go back and pick up a new one. Yumm!

I have to admit to Jack being a very guilty pleasure. We indulged in those grease-laden tacos at least once a week when I was in college and they were, oddly enough, one of the few things I could tolerate when pregnant with our oldest daughter.

Sadly they closed all their locations in our area so we can only get it when we travel west. We were just in Las Vegas and managed to fit a visit to Jack's in between the celebrity chef dining we were doing.

Jack was my all time favorite when I lived in San Jose, right around the corner I could have walked, but of course I went to the drive-through. I have the collection of Jack dolls, (do they still come out with a new ornament every year?) I can't even list my favorite because I loved them all. I miss them. I've tried to get them to move east but so far I can only dream and remember.

Sadly no ornament this year. I have the full set ... that was a problem for a while until they started selling the ornaments without the requirement to buy major meal packages ... I mean it was costing me six bucks worth of food for each ornament ya know ... not to mention the medical costs that go with this purchase.

So in the holiday spirirt ... Jack in the Box nipping at your nose.

Anyone tried the new steak sandwiches? I like Jack alot but haven't been over there much these days.

The steak sandwiches aren't bad. Watch for the tomato, which can be bad. But it's steaky steak and kind of messy. The ciabatta rolls are chewy, which means some tearing and that combined with meat pieces makes for a bit of a mess. But I like chewy bread ...

Gotta love the Jack! (I feel exactly the same way you do about their tacos). I like the variety of their menu much more than the dull sameness of McD's.
