Oki Dog...

bigdrew Jan 23, 2007 02:58 PM

I remember going to the one on Pico when I FIRST moved to LA, and eating some collasal, gargantuan grease pit of a sandwich (can't remember the name of it)...it was AWESOME....Driving down Fairfax the other day, i saw an Oki Dog (Fairfax and Melrose area)..
How is that Oki Dog?
And what' the name of that Sandwich, and what was in it???

Are you sure it wasn't a burrito, and not a sandwich? The eponymous Oki Dog is a hot dog rolled in pastrami, married to some kim chee and encased in an tortilla, making for quite a gut bomb. Their fries used to be great, fried in month-old pastrami leavings, I'm sure.

mmmm... you just took me back to junior and senior high!!!! (yes, I went to Fairfax!)
They had the Oki Dog. It's more of a burrito than anything else. It's a giant tortilla with 2 hot dogs (because 1 is just not enough!) pastrami, chili, mustard and I think pickles. All wrapped up into a giant pillow of goodness..... Make sure to take your cholestral meds

Tried one in 1984 - I'm still digesting it...
