Does anyone know if this restaurant on Restaurant Row is open? The last time I was in town, it was shuttered, but I couldn't tell if it was closed, or just closed for renovations . . .

I have to say, I love this place - the hanging sausages, the bread, the crock of pate, the crudite, the mmmmm mussels in white wine . . . all for a prixe fixe price. I hope it's not closed for good . . .

The one on Second Ave. is open. I ate there for my anniversary this past October. It's one of my favorite restaurants. Those sausages are to die for!

I live across the street from the one on 2nd avenue and I looked at it for about 5 years before I decided to set foot inside. It's actually very charming and the food is good. Not amazing, but certainly good enough, especially for the prices. It brings you back to 1975 NYC.

It is ABSOLUTELY still open. Went there a week ago and going back tomorrow.

The first location I ate at was the one up on Second Avenue - my cousin brought me there for lunch back in, oh, I'd say 1984. Loved it then, love it now, and I'm sad if the Restaurant Row location has closed for good, but as long as the other one is still open, I won't start hanging crepe. The thing is, it might not be the BEST French food, but I find it to be charming, delicious, affordable, and something to rely on - and isn't that a good thing to say about any restaurant? Plus, my kids have grown up loving it - it's part of their growth into foodies!

Menupages is listing only the uptown location. That would indicate that the Restaurant Row location has closed for good. The last time we were there a few years ago for a pre-theater lunch, I thought the food was barely mediocre.

Not sure about the Restaurant Row location, but the one in the upper 50's on 2nd is still open.

i will be SO sad if that place is closed! we used to go there on field trips for my french class in high school and everyone loved it! Hopefully it is just being remodeled! keep me updated if you find out!

I used to go there on High School french field trips too! they must have the market cornered or something. I remember they have good fries but i don't think the rest of the food is really that great - can def find better bistros in manhattan.
