LA Hound Seeking Advice for WC1/Nearby

Dr. Debs Jan 22, 2007 10:00 PM

I'm spending a week in London and am staying in WC1 on Russell Square (I know, but I have to be between the Library and the Museum). Any good new places I should check out? I used to live on Tavistock Pl. so I know the area but it's been a year since I've been back. I'm especially looking for places that are good for solo diners since I'm on my own this trip.

I really enjoyed Acorn House which opened a little before CHristmas

it is predicated on green principles which would not matter a jot if the food was not up to snuff. Thankfully it is. Very good mutton and excellent risotto. Service is very efficient and friendly and they have an agreeably priced wine list

It is on 69 Swinton St ( Just off the Grays Inn Rd south of Kings Cross

    Well worth a try

Its not really new, but Hasan Raja is a great Indian buffet right in that area.
