Marshmallows in PDX?

atomic Jan 22, 2007 08:09 PM

I'm looking for some nice, housemade marshmallows that I can buy from a bakery or chocolate shop. Anyone know where to go?

I have tasted the ones from Whole Foods and I really like them,

yum.... and you probably won't be able to get out of there with just the bag of marshmallows!

Holy carp! I didn't know this place existed. I'll have to check it out. I got some marshmallows from WHole Foods and they were pretty good with some nice hot cocoa, but I'm definitely still looking for something better.

Huh, I thought I posted this answer yesterday. They have had good ones at Pastaworks on Hawthorne -- both chocolate and (IIRC) "white."

Posting has been hit and miss since the site overhaul, so....

Awesome! Pastaworks is in my hood so I'll definitely check them out. Thanks.

Baker & Spice makes them for their hot chocolate. I've never looked to see if they sell them also, but they're pretty tasty. Give them a call.

Oooh, baker & spice. Haven't been there in a while, and this is a good reason. Thanks.

Sorry, I haven't had them--if I'm going to consume that many calories, it's going to be something I like better, such as chocolate! I searched all the CH boards for "whole food marshmallows" and saw a few positive references, if that's any use.

I don't know if you would consider them homemade, but Whole Foods carries them.

Steve Smith, the pastry chef at Carlyle, makes them as one of the little treats they deliver at the end of the meal with your check. I don't know if they would sell them, but they are yummy.
