ISO Recs for Tapas at reBar (The Retreat), DUMBO

Has anyone tried the tapas at reBar, the new spot upstairs at The Retreat on Front Street in DUMBO? I'll be in town this week/weekend and wondered whether to give the place and try and if so, what to order. Thanks in advance.

    Hey--

I just tried this place this weekend. We had the anchovies with plugra (butter). They were excellent. Based on this one taste, I would not hesitate to order anything. The only reason we didn't order more was that we were headed to dinner and I didn't want to ruin my appetite.

ReBar was the subject of a glowing review the other day in the Gothamist.com (http://www.gothamist.com/archives/200...). I've been once so far and have to concur about the size and beauty of the space. I tried the tuna tartar which was, frankly, just OK: the texture was spot on, but the flavor, despite the admix of ingredients, was a bit bland; and the toast points, or bread pieces, served with it, were a bit on the soft-ish side. I was especially put off by the bread: it's always been a rule of thumb for me that any restaurant that takes itself seriously takes great pains to serve quality bread. That said, I'll certainly continue to try their other offerings: I can surely imagine ReBar becoming my go-to spot for a late night light bite with a glass or two of wine, providing, of course, I leave a little more satisfied with the food next time I stop in.
