Drinks for a Crowd near TD Banknorth

MaggieMuffin Jan 22, 2007 02:17 PM

Hi All,

Any ideas for a great bar/restaurant that could accomodate a crowd before a hockey game? We will be ~50 people. It must be in walking distance. Why do you recommend that spot?

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Well, most of the bars/restaurants around the Garden are pretty swamped before a game. (Especially Sullivan's Tap before a Bruin's game).

50 people, huh? Maybe the Waterfront Cafe? Pretty darn good pizza and pub grub, and a very short walk down Commercial to the Garden.

The Harp on Causeway isn't my fav place in the world, but it's pretty huge and could easily accomodate 50.

The Greatest Bar on 262 Friend St can accomodate a large crowd if you call ahead. They have a semi-private second floor balcony area, as well as two additional private floors above that. The third floor could easily accomodate ~50 people.

I recently organized an after-work celebration on their third floor and it was a success. Food, although standard bar menu, was tasty and the service was great. No extra charge for the private room either. Michael Kalil was my contact there who put everything together.

Boston Beerworks on Canal! They have great nachos and beer. There is a second floor that accomodates groups easily, of course you would want to call in advance. I've hosted two (one personal, one professional) events there with success. Enjoy!

Try the Athenaeum (the Old Commonwealth Brewery). Decent food and good drinks. Large room and a downstairs area also. As Bostonbob said, most of the bars around the Garden are packed for any Bruins game.

I think this is referring to the bar/resto called "Anthem".

I'd second the Greatest Bar and would also suggest the Fours. I

You'd seriously have to call ahead to get room for 50 at the Fours. It was packed on Thursday when I was there. I think they have a private room though.

Decent pub grub, nothing particularly interesting on tap, fries the size of large canoes.

The Harp definatly if you have a crowd that big. The bar is a good size for any occasion but since there are so many of you, you can go downstairs and have just as good of a time!

Try the Grand Canal, same street as Fours, etc. They have a nice downstairs if I remember correctly. Call ahead.
