"spicy" dressing on crispy shrimp @ Salt House--what's in it??

We loved the dressing on the mini salad that came with the shrimp. It was spicy and light, had a reddish color. Definitely vinegar, hot red pepper, what else? Tasted like the flavoring in chorizo? Maybe pimento/paprika? Anyone who has eaten it and could hazard a guess--it would be appreciated!

  1. It was probably flavored with Pimenton, or smoked paprika. This delicious spice comes in three heats, sweet, bittersweet, and hot. You can get it at The Spanish Table in Berkeley or Mill Valley and I've also seen it at Mollie Stone's Tower Market on Portola at Teresita (Twin Peaks) in San Francisco.

You can also buy it online either at:

    The Spanish Table

    or at a site called

    La Tienda
